Common Questions on:

Skin Cancer

It is the most common type of cancer in the US.  About 40-50% of Americans who live up to age 65 will have skin cancer at least once.  Risk factors include ultraviolet radiation from the sun as well as, sun lamps or tanning booths.  The risk is greater for people who have fair skin.  The most common warning sign is a sore that does not heal.  There are three main types of skin cancer; basal cell, squamous cell, and the very mean one, melanoma.  This type can only be identified after surgical removal under local anesthesia.  In the face, the surgeons use a method that leaves the least evidence.
