About BOTOX® Cosmetic

BOTOX® Cosmetic blocks impulses from the nerve to the muscle.  It relaxes the muscle as it contracts.  After the treatment the overlying skin remains smooth and unwrinkled, while the untreated facial muscle contracts in a normal fashion. 
BOTOX® Cosmetic injections have been safely and effectively used for over twenty years for many other reasons.  For cosmetic purposes BOTOX® Cosmetic is injected into several locations on the face using tiny micro needles.  No sedation or local anesthetic is required, and normal activities can be resumed. 
The effects of BOTOX® Cosmetic can be seen in approximately two weeks leaving a more youthful and pleasant appearance that lasts 4-6 months.

Collagen and BOTOX® Cosmetic complement each other.  Collagen, a filler, is the most effective way to smooth facial lines and wrinkles, and fill out scars or plump lips.  Botox relaxes the muscle to eliminate fine lines and prevent their reformation.  Collagen is better for the deeper wrinkles such as:  frown lines, laugh lines, worry lines, crow’s feet, deep smile lines and facial scars.  BOTOX® Cosmetic will improve crow’s feet and worry lines and may be applied to the upper lip and lines on the neck.
